MANILA, Philippines – Aldin Ayo has announced that he will not be leaving the University of Santo Tomas shortly, and this time it's official.
According to UST's official student magazine The Varsitarian, Ayo signed a three-year extension to make him the head coach of the Growling Tigers until 2023.
“Basically I stay with UST for a long time. The contract is only a formality to stop all rumors, ”Ayo said in the report.
"We will do our best to be the best version of ourselves and be ready for the next season."
Ayo became the head coach of the Growling Tigers in 2018 and immediately changed the fate of the team.
After a UAAP campaign with a win under Boy Sablan in season 80, the Growling Tigers improved from Ayo to 5-9 in the first year.
UST then beat expectations when it ended in season 81 against a perfect Ateneo team with an overall victory of 16-0 in the final with a silver medal.
