Kungfu Reyes asked the women's volleyball team at the University of Santo Tomas to "stay fit".
Those in Metro Manila whom he told him to go home. He instructed those from the provinces to remain in team quarters.
"In this way, they are available when a block is implemented," Reyes told investigators after the UAAP suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Other teams, I've heard, continue to practice," said Reyes. "But I don't want to take any chances. Your parents will be very worried."
On Monday, they had a scheduled tuning match against a Philippine Super League team. But that was also the time when President Duterte declared that classes would be suspended for at least a week.
The UAAP followed this example and stopped the games until March 17th, "to give everyone involved enough time to adapt to the current situation".
It was the second postponement of season 82, which had previously been delayed due to the fear of viruses.
"Now everything has stopped," said Reyes. "I told my players to stay in shape. I hope they remember doing squats at least at home. "
UST had just come from a breathtaking victory over Far Eastern U the previous day, and Reyes said the tigresses had been cheered up for the rest of the season.
Last year, the Tigresses managed to recover from a five-set loss to the National University during the opening games.

Whether UAAP follows the example is not so important.
"I think our opinion doesn't matter," he said. "The most important thing is to follow the authorities' statements because they know better."
