The Downhill Skateboarding Seaside World Cup, scheduled to take place on April 14th in Maragondon, Cavite, has been postponed due to the Corona Virus pandemic (COVID-19).
"It is unfortunate. But given what is happening now, we want to postpone it until about September," Carl Sambrano, President of the International Downhill Federation, told the investigator on Friday.
The Seaside World Cup, scheduled to take place until April 18, is designed to help the Philippines determine a national pool for the 2021 World Roller Games in Argentina.
The meeting was also intended to attract downhill skaters from the Asia Pacific region in the hope of collecting points for their global leaderboard.
"It should be our welcome to the [international] downhill skating community as it is our first production," said Sambrano, also president of the Skateboarding and Roller Sports Association, the Philippine NSA.
