MANILA, Philippines – The Asean Para Games 2020 hosted by the Philippines have been moved from their original schedule in January to a later date due to "financial constraints and logistical difficulties".
From the original dates of January 18-25, 2020, the Para Games, a multisport event for athletes with disabilities in the region, would instead take place in March.
Preparations for the PH Asean Para Games 2020 with "on track"
The move was based on the recommendations of the Philippine Sports Commission to the Philippine Paralympic Committee, as stated in a statement.
The Asean Para Games are a double event of the biennial Southeast Asian Games, which also recently took place in the Philippines.
"Although we have made every effort to prepare the games for the past year and a half, matters beyond our control are forcing us to reschedule the event," said PPC President Mike Barredo.
Barredo added that postponing the schedule to March would allow the PPC to "have enough time to handle financial and logistical matters."
